Arts and Crafts House on a Hill

Location: Mendon, NY

Our client found this rural site in Mendon, New York overlooking wooded wetlands many years prior to building. The house features a timbered great room made from locally sourced larch, a species of conifer that drops its needles seasonally. A wide plank cherry floor compliments the warm color of the timbers. An interesting but subtle detail can be found in the tapered side walls of the bedroom dormers. A stone terrace is accessed off the kitchen for entertaining and grilling.

Greenside Craftsman

Location: Canandaigua, NY

This home is situated on the lot in order to take advantage of views across a green and its rolling fairway of a Robert Trent Jones designed golf course carved into wooded hills above Canandaigua Lake. The slope of the property suggested a side entry layout which also allowed plenty of sunlight into the open floor plan. A three season room pavilion built out over the hillside allows great views of the scenery late into the colorful fall found in upstate New York.

Cul-De-Sac Surprise

Location: Upstate New York

After trying multiple design teams, the client came to DWA with frustration as they had not made progress toward the design of their dream home. With the advantage of digital modeling through the schematic process the design came alive for them. Once the construction drawings were done the clients spent two years building the house to get every detail just right. Guests will be surprised to find this beautiful home at the end of a suburban cul-de-sac.
