Keuka House on Point - A Multi-Generational Reimagining
Finding the perfect lakeside property is a rare stroke of luck; designing one that seamlessly bridges the needs of three generations is a deliberate act of architectural storytelling. While the site’s original cottage was rich with character, it proved a beautiful mismatch for a family spanning from aging parents to young adults. To truly welcome everyone, the owners chose to look past renovation and toward a total reimagining—one that granted them the freedom to prioritize connection, accessibility, and the art of the view.
The home’s most striking feature is its pivoted orientation. By setting the structure on a deliberate axis, the design captures dual vistas, simultaneously framing views both up and down the lake. In every room, the water isn't just a backdrop; it is the home’s primary centerpiece.
The architecture works in harmony with the local topography. From the street, the first floor nestles quietly into the landscape, offering a grounded and private profile. As one moves through the interior, the home begins to "unfold," descending and radiating outward toward the shoreline. This cascading design allows the house to feel intimate and tucked-away at the entrance, yet expansive and light-filled at the water’s edge.
As one family member observed, there is no "lost" space here—every inch has been carefully interrogated for purpose. The result is a home that functions with precision but lives with ease. It is a vessel for a new era of sunsets, dockside stories, and the quiet joy of having everyone under one roof.
Here’s to many years of great times and happy memories. Cheers!
